Hula Hoop

I spent my Friday on a range of social media sites. It began with Instagram where I discovered old friends with new experiences; after which I moved on to Pinterest my “go-to” place for DIY and crafts. Finally, I hit the online magazines and blogs in search of what I will refer to as “pure fashion”.

Naturally, Vogue was the number one destination encapsulating “pure fashion” and the Chanel Hula Hoop bag enveloped me in its creative circus.

Has there ever been a bag less practical? Is this the extraordinaire that is “fashion”? More importantly, would you carry this beach bag or maybe a smaller version?

Be Grey

A couple of months ago, I visited Grey for the first time ever! Contrary to my wild and extravagant expectations, the store was small and minimal, giving it that expensive feel of a hidden treasure. Hanging against the crisp white wall was a long rack of a bursting collection that I’d hope to be featured in my wardrobe one glorious day. From printed patterns to woven fabrics it was obvious that each piece was well thought out and delicately constructed.

As I waltzed in, excited to have finally made it to the store, I was surprised to be welcomed by two of the three designers, Rukky and Tola. They talked me through all their different pieces and a few ideas and as expected I “oohh-ed” and “ahh-ed” as I finally got the chance to appreciate these pieces up close.

Their entire range consists of the essential C’s: Corporate, Casual and Cocktail or as I’d like to call them, the 3 C’s! With this strategy, you’re sure to be prepared for every occasion at the drop of a hat! The variety of colours andΒ  variation in fabrics was a long way from the blandness that the name ‘Grey’ suggests and more so that before, I can honestly say that Grey is most definitely one of my favourite brands in Nigeria, I just hope to see a little more of an African touch in their breath-taking designs. Ps: I’m loving the Olympics. Shame about Nigeria though, I wish we’d at least get a bronze!!!!

Celine Marant

Every now and then, there’s a fad that everyone seems to cling to. It lasts but for a moment before we then move on to the next craze with the old bearly a memory of what used to be.

Recently, Wura (yet another one of my sisters) drew my attention to these Isabelle Marant wedged sneakers and this Celine Phantom handbag. We’ve spotted them on 9/10 notable fashion blogs and as a result, they are worthy of mentioning. I’m not the slightest bit a fan of sneakers but if Beyonce could feature these on the very much adored ‘Love on Top’ video, it’s jolly well good enough to mention. The Celine bag however is one that is very much after my heart (and pocket) and just because it’s CELINE it’s ruddy well perfect for my blog!

What are your thoughts on these?
