PRIM by House 38

***PRESS RELEASE***
PRIM by House 38 is the younger and more affordable range of clothing designed and produced by House 38. Our current collection is a celebration of the burst of colours that arrive with spring and intensify into summer. With full pleated skirts and shorts, this is a collection that is suited for the ease and breeze of the spring. With its affordability, the blouses of PRIM S/S ’12 should be a bright presence in the wardrobes of women hopping from work to play.

The latest prim by House 38 collection relays a sophisticated exuberance that the brand so cleverly executes. The rippled ruffles and knife pleats although flirty and playful adopt a balance of tailoring that ensures the wearer is still taken seriously. The block colours and jewelled buttons speak volumes of a fashion conscious urban lady. My favourites of the collection have got to be the lomy skirt and Molly blouse…. Gorgeous!

Items start at N5,000 and are capped at N12,500.

Arise

Last week Saturday brought a fresh bout of depression on my weekend. I’d mapped out a two-day strategy involving taking charge of the fashion empire and maybe even conquering the world, yet somehow, favour appeared to have ditched my right hand side and friendship no longer felt like a cushion.

Arise Fashion week was in Lagos and I missed the entirety of its Saturday show thanks to a few hiccups coupled with the manic traffic that constantly engulfs Lagos.

Sunday night had to be different! I attended the finale ALONE and encapsulated each awaking moment in the joy of my own company. In all honesty, the Sunday night show fell short of my tall expectations with the Okunoren twins being my personal highlight. However, my judgement might have been slightly flawed seeing as I missed the beginning and missed out on the end too.

Nonetheless, as my Dad’s driver pulled up outside the front door with me in the passenger’s seat, a glimmer of satisfaction washed over my face. I was pleased just to have made it to the show. I always like to form my own opinion on certain situations.

Below are pictures of what I wore. Pictures of the show coming soon…..

Blazer: Zara

Blouse: H&M

Skirt: House 38

Necklace: H&M

Bracelets: Toshade

Rings: Topshop (one is Taiwo’s)

Bag: Zara (Costa Brava)

Pumps: Vivienne Westwood (my 1st post ever https://bonitavalli.wordpress.com/2011/05/30/melissa-2/ )

Diving In

Undoubtedly, every summer demands a new bikini and this year I’ve been obsessing over two very unique collections.

Jason Wu’s Resort 2012 collection reveals his dive into the deep end with his neon-coloured debut pieces. The dark outlines exaggerate feminine silhouettes with the highlighted hues emphasising a pop! Love, love love these pieces.

My second and favourite swimwear obsession has got to be Mara Hoffman’s Resort Swim 2011 Runway. These beautiful indigenous prints take us on an ethical journey of bohemian creativity, they’re amazing. Here are my favourites of the lot. Hope you’re loving these as much as I am…. they’re genius!

“….Summer Garden in Rainbow clouds”

Name: Summer

Profile: You best believe she’s sexy!!! Summer’s that fire that turns heads when she stomps into a room. She’s loved by many and envied by more. Summer is and will remain uncontested…. she’s the hottest of them all.

Scene 1: The occupied sidewalks of fashions capital cities are engulfed by Summer’s electric blues, tangerine oranges, hot pinks and pristine whites. This season, Summer is loving her colour blocks and feeding her style addiction are the likes of Gucci, Lanvin and none other than Victoria Beckham.

Scene 2: Summer pulls off country side chic in a whimsically bizarre way. There’s a bit of a fruit explosion in the meadows as nature bursts out. The infamous banana prints of Prada have got to be the fuel to this fire as the likes of Anna Wintour have impressed stamps of approval all over this one.

Scene 3: Despite her past with the somewhat provocative bum shorts and mini skirts, summer has turned a new leaf this season with midi’s and maxi’s infiltrating the runways. The likes of Lanvin, Jil Sander and Erdem are the geniuses behind Summer’s midi’s and maxi’s.

I am particularly loving this trend and currently in search of the perfect pleated mid length skirt to complete my summer look 🙂

Melissa

In honour of my graduation in just over a month, I have been rewarded a precious pair of Vivienne Westwood rubber ‘Melissa’ pumps. These little angels have had me in awe since I first spotted them on my friend (and fashion aficionado) Kelly Nguyen.

I’m sure many will agree that these cuties could perhaps be deemed a reflection of my ditzy yet chic personality and consequently, they have sky rocketed as my favourite pair of shoes.

Feast your eyes on my candy coloured sweeties and do share if ever you’ve been as infatuated with shoes as I am with these.
