Hopelessly in Lust

I’ve never really been a “shoe person”…. footwear was just never ever my thing. I could stare at a dress for seconds and instantaneously spot a loose thread, a wonky stitch or an uneven hemline. But when it came to shoes, I never quite understood the art. You see, my subconscious mind had me thinking confidence was something that was up in the sky, not down on your feet. Little did I know that the spring in your step resonates right from the soles of your feet to the twinkle in your eye.

Recently, I’ve noticed an increased allocation of my (window) shopping time has been apportioned to shoes… heels in particular, not just any footwear and I must say…. I like it! I’m not quite the expert (yet), so I still can’t tell when I need insoles from when I need gel arch inserts but who knows, in no time I might be the next Carrie Bradshaw.

Below is a diary of my shoe lust list. Shoe aficionados, your thoughts please!

She’s Back!

Hello Beautiful people!!!!

I know I’ve been MIA for a bit (a bit she says…) but I’m back  and you’ll love it, I promise!

In the mean time, I’ll leave you all with a picture of me in what Nigerian’s call a Keke Napep! Talk about arriving in grand style…. LOL

Ps: It was my first time in a Keke Napep and I was too excited. I didn’t actually go for a ride, but the driver allowed me to pose in it… LOL

PPs: Forgive the picture quality…. I used my phone.

Afrochristic

A couple of Fridays ago, I stopped by at Taiwo’s office after work and to no surprise, I found her office relatively empty. I know about 90% of the staff at her office so was a little surprised to come across an unfamiliar face. Okey had just joined that week and I could tell from the look on his face that he was just as surprised to meet a “Taiwo look-alike” as I was  to see a new face on the team.

In line with your typical Friday “dress down” Okey had on no tie, but a white shirt,  smart blazer and one of my favourite men’s accessories, a pocket square. Naturally, it instantly caught my attention and rude as it may be, I had him take it out for my close inspection.

The fabric was tightly woven in a torquoise blue and complementary gold weft stitch accompanied by a black undertone. It was effortlessly folded in a loose pyramid and stuck out with all the flair of a pretentious aristocrat, I loved it! It reminded me a lot of a contemporary take on the “aso-oke” often worn at Yoruba traditional weddings.

After my close (and somewhat rude) inspection, I quickly got to know that Okey’s pocket square was actually made by his own brand (side hustle as we like to call in in Nigeria), Afrochristic. It turns out Afrochristic is not just a one-trick pony, they do a few male and female accessories. Can’t wait to find out what else they have in store.

Below are pictures of Okey’s Afrochristic pocket square, isn’t it just handsome!

Best Foot Forward

As with every Saturday in Lagos there was a wedding to attend on Saturday August 9. This Saturday was special though, it was Solape and Dipo’s wedding. I’ve known Solape since JS1 (year 7) and it just so happens that we also work on the same team in the office, so it goes without saying that we spend a lot of time together .

For the longest time, I couldn’t figure out what to wear and I wasn’t about to spend any more money on wedding season (Aso Ebi is so expensive)! So I sifted through my wardrobe and was lucky enough to re-discover my ROF monochrome maxi from the 2012 “Re-Belle” Collection. I’d only worn it once and it was begging for another showcase.

Below are pictures of  Wura, Ilobe, Taiwo and I as we headed out to #SolaDipo2014, hope you like….
