Renata

I have my own style. It’s specific to me (as style should be) and determined by my body shape, my height, my location and the occasion. The Virgo’s Lounge Renata dress is exactly my style. The draped back is my kind of understated drama and the v-neckline shows just the right amount of skin. VL’s trademark wrap slit opens up with every stride breaking the sea of glitzy blue to show off (freshly shaved) legs!!!

The VL Renata is my dream right now, I wish I was a June baby so I’d have a justifiable reason to purchase it….

What do you think of the VL Renata?

Ps: The ‘fro is out once again, so you guessed it! The next blog will be on my latest hair do… the “Drum”!

Plum and Sapphire

Carina: The Lady Biba ‘Carina’ is one of my favourite dresses in my wardrobe. I bought it in an instagram sale couple of months back, but struggled a little (more like a LOT) with the fit mainly because my lower half and upper half vary drastically! Naturally, I had to have alterations done (thanks to Alterations on Awolowo Road) now my dress is a perfect fit… a second skin if you like.

Initially, I was very skeptical about the Carina. The picture I’d seen on the website featured a poorly finished hemline and although I LOVED the dress, I wasn’t about to throw my money into the pocket of any designer that didn’t pay attention to a clean finish. But then as I went through the Lady Biba instagram account, I noticed that unlike the pictures on the website, the dress actually looked well made.  As you all know, I’m a fan of Nigerian Belle and even she vouched for Lady Biba, so I took the plunge and bought the dress. Needless to say, I think this dress is amazing and Lady Biba will definitely be hearing from me again soon.

Vintage: Sumbo’s dress on the other hand is a vintage extraordinaire! This blue number was spotted in her Aunt’s closet and needless to say, it’s Sumbo’s now. A truly timeless piece the colour pops just as much as it did back in the day, but the material has a fragile stretch to it, demanding care when washing.

Say hello to our Sunday OOTD! Plum and Vintage Sapphire…….

OlaDipo 2014

Can you say “Backlog”? Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a million and two things lined up one. after. the other. and so I have tons of blogs just itching to go out but not enough time to craft the posts to my standard and satisfaction.

My Sister, Olaitan, got married over the Easter weekend and her wedding was without a doubt the best wedding I have ever been to:

VENUE:  As a true ‘MK Don’ the wedding was held at Double Tree by Hilton in Milton Keynes. We had it all from the delicious chocolate fountain which stole my undivided attention for a solid five minutes, to the photo booth which was accompanied by the most hilarious and befitting props!

AMBIANCE: The Church ceremony was small and intimate accompanied by close friends and family members and the reception hall was perfectly decorated in true Fanimokun moderation. Olaitan is one of the most organised (and bougie) people I know and so the champagne reception accompanied by canapes and lemon meringue were no surprise and neither was the perfect seating plan.

THE DRESS: Olaitan’s Justin Alexander 2014 dress was stunning. A silhouette mermaid silk dress detailed with crystal and satin buttons from the back neckline all the way to through the length of the chapel. The top of the dress was heavily beaded and caught the light with all the sophistication of her classy wedding.

THE SUIT: Dipo brought his A-Game! His navy blue satin finish 3-piece Canali suit was accentuated with an orange corsage and left no doubt that he was the groom.

Below are pictures from the best wedding I’ve ever attended #OlaDipo2014

Ps: Who knew a wedding abroad could be more fun than a wedding in Lagos?

Mrs Bucket

Sometimes (only sometimes) I think my sister, Wura, may be more stylish than I am. For the past few months, I’ve been longingly lusting and hopelessly drooling over the Mansur Gavriel Bucket and Wura is to blame.

Structured with Italian Vegetable leather, the Bucket is a casually classy everyday bag. Big enough to store the essentials and yet somewhat discreet, the Mansur Gavriel Bucket is my interpretation of understated glamour. Lined with a striking red resin, the Bucket bag teases a little bit of attitude without being brash.

Simple as it may be, the MG Bucket is the top of my wish list this Easter. Maybe, just maybe I will indulge myself.

PPs: I’m working overtime this weekend. I’m not pleased. I’m not pleased at all!

Big LA

In a bid to make Taiwo jealous, I invited Laolu (her best friend) for lunch with me today. You see, Taiwo and I work in the same building, but she got the whole week off and has been rubbing it in my face all day. Pictures speak a thousand words and so as Laolu wolfed down his TFC fried rice, I snuck in a picture and immediately whatsapped it to her. My plan worked. She was jealous. Please see below:

Laolu is easily one of our best dressed male friends- and he probably knows it (LOL)! I dug up pictures I took of him over Christmas and decided to share what an ‘Oh-so-Dapper’ Friday look should resemble. Gentlemen… please take note!

1. The usual khaki Friday trousers are a staple in every man’s wardrobe. Nothing else screams “Business Casual”.

2. A plain blue (or pale pink) shirt sings untold harmonies when paired with khaki. No pinstripes or checked shirts required, just plain vanilla.

3. A pocket square is always a winner be it a formal or casual look. If it matches your shirt/tie, you’re definitely winning!

4. Laolu has on a simple pair of plimsoles. I never would have thought it, but they work!

5. An expensive watch/belt/Man Bag will always sail you through to top points!!! I like anything but Hermes! That massive ‘H’ drives me insane, however, I do appreciate that it’s top quality so I can’t knock anyone down for it.

Below are the pictures of Big LA I dug up from Christmas…

Ps: Note to Taiwo: Revenge is a dish best served cold, enjoy! Muhahaha

Pps: Ladies, Laolu is taken, you can stop drooling now *giggles*

Ppps: It was Laitan’s tradition wedding over the weekend. She looked beautiful. Can’t wait for the pictures to come out!

5 Blogs 5 Days: Nigerian Belle

Remember my 5 Blogs 5 Days series…? Good thing you do, because unlike you, I forgot!

I’m not very good at finishing things that I start. I tend to start off on a high and then gradually, the momentum dies until things come to a gradual halt! But in my pursuit of self-improvement, I decided I’d commit more to my blog, starting with the series of 5 Blogs 5 Days.

Today’s post is about one of my favourite blogs- Nigerian Belle. Below are a number of reasons I love Nigerian Belle:

1. Nigerian Belle is written by one of my favourite Nigerian Fashion Designers-Damola of House 38- and the blog in itself, is a promotion of Nigerian Fashion brands. I’ve been trying to ‘Buy Nigerian’ more and this blog updates me on affordable designer brands and items to purchase.

2.Nigerian Belle takes you through the daily adventures of the writer from the mysteries of her top drawer, to cross border trips to the likes of Ghana and Dubai.

3. The blog has a clean look with no distracting backgrounds or jarring colours. Simplicity is always key for me.

Hope you like as much as I do.

xXx

Ps: I want to write about 2 more Blogs. Can it be 6 days 6 blogs instead of 5? Lol

73 Questions with SJP

I was glossing over my instagram feed as I do daily, when I came across Vogue’s 73 Question interview with Sarah Jessica Parker. Over the course of the 5 and a half minute interview,  SJP takes Vogue on a brief tour of her Manhattan home providing bullet answers to a rapid interview. I LOVE!!!

xXx

Ps: Love the Ping Pong table and the effortlessly chic look.

Pps: Check me out, uploading videos and whatnot. Lol
